To become a world champion In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Also to Deadlift 700lbs, Squat 600lbs, and Bench Press 450lbs (1750 Total).

Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

The idea that the day I stop being better than yesterday is the day I want to die.

Q: WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?

That you’ll need to be more dedicated than you think. You may show up every day, you may outwork everyone but that’s not enough. If you want to achieve your dreams every aspect of your life must be in the direction of your goals.

Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?

That there’s no magic pill, no three easy payments of $9.99 and no free lunches. The path of success is showing up every damn day and working your ass off.

Q: WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?

I don’t dread workouts. And I don’t look forward to them. Working out is more than something I just do. it’s fundamental to who I am and my existence. It’s something I do every damn day.

Q: WHAT IDEA, PERSON OR BOOK HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE? WHY?

My Father. He taught me that if you’re not a good and kind person nothing else matters. At the end of your life all that matters is how you made people feel.

Q: WITH ANY NEW MODALITY YOU GET INTO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH IT IN ORDER TO MASTER?

I’ve learned the secret to being good at something is simple. Show up, don’t quit and as questions. It really works.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FAILURE? HOW HAS THAT SET YOU UP FOR LATER SUCCESS?

In my last UFC fight I was choked unconscious. IT was a difficult loss to deal with because I thought I had it “all figured out”. What that experience taught me is one can truly never have everything figured out. That growing and being better is a lifelong struggle.

An authority on all things fitness, Bobby was the GM at Gym Jones for 9 years, fought MMA professionally in the UFC, and has trained numerous Tier One assets in the Military. There were no shortcuts for Bobby to take to where he is now. Instead, he puts in the work EVERY DAMN DAY. “Here’s the thing: We’ve been lied to,” he says. “Our parents told us we could be whatever we wanted, but that doesn’t just happen overnight. Your goals require sacrifice and hard work.
