10 MINUTES WITH TONY

Q: WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?

Keep showing up every day. Some days are easier than others, but the days you don’t
want to show up are the ones you need to show up the most.

Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?

So many! I have been able to use fitness as a medium/ microlens for tons of life
lessons. What I find fascinating about physical fitness is that it is a great teacher for
handling adversity.

Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

The long game. When I am at this moment is not where I stand on the mountain and
proclaim “Mission Accomplished”. I don’t know how long I have on earth, but I want to
make my time here meaningful.

Q: WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?

There is no specific workout that I dread. I do find myself pushing deeper and harder
any time a CrossFit hero workout comes up, especially when I have personal ties to the fallen service member.

Q: WITH ANY NEW MODALITY YOU GET INTO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH IT IN ORDER TO MASTER IT?

Identify my intention (my why for wanting to understand this modality better), start
moving forward on getting better at it, and research who does it the best. Then as
challenges come up reach out to them with specific questions about points of friction.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FAILURE? HOW HAS THAT SET YOU UP FOR LATER SUCCESS?

I can look back at each and every failure and say that I would be where I am today without them. I don’t have a favorite failure as they have all taught me something unique, which has gotten me this far. There will be plenty more failures ahead, and I look forward to each and every one of them.

Q: WHAT IDEA, PERSON OR BOOK HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE? WHY?

Live in the moment. Showing up is a majority of it, but there will always be things to do, and I can’t worry about that. Especially with friends and family, appreciation, and
gratitude for the time together.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR 2020-2021 FITNESS GOAL?

25m Unbroken Handstand Walking and Two Ton Club.

ULTRA ERGATHON

FEATS OF STRENGTH

Tony Nash is about to tackle endurance-level distances on four different machines: a half marathon on a SkiErg, a full marathon on a BikeErg, a half marathon on a RowErg, and then to finish it off, a half marathon on an AssaultRunner. While other athletes have attempted shorter distances on three of those machines before, Tony will be the first to extend the distance on the Concept2 machines – and the first to add on the half marathon.
