The challenge

Introducing Version 2.0. Revamped from the ground up, our new and improved Over Zip V2 is the perfect layer for warm-ups, cool-downs, and those way-to-early morning sessions. The Over Zip V2 uses a Polartec Power Grid™ fabric with geometric patterns on the inside of the fabric for increasing warmth and breathability, while also reducing mass to minimize weight. And since it’s built for movement, we integrated a minimal built-in stuff sack on the back that makes it easy to keep as part of your kit no matter where you’re headed. To put the Over Zip to the test, we collaborated with some of our top athletes that refuse to let adverse weather derail their training. As the temperatures dropped, they turned to the Over Zip V2 to keep them warm for some of their toughest outdoor sessions.

As the founder and head coach at Apex Human Performance, Austin Rowe needs a layer that can keep him warm whether he’s coaching or training during Denver’s harsh winter months. The former collegiate athlete loves to mix up his training, getting creative with the outdoor space around his gym just as much as he uses the barbells and plates inside. We asked Austin to put the Over Zip V2 to the test just in time for Denver’s first snowfall of 2020.

Warmup (5 Rounds):

  • Alternating DB Snatch - 10 reps
  • DB Facing Burpee - 10 reps
  • Assault Bike - 15 calories
  • Pushups - 30 reps

Strength (5 Rounds):

  • Barbell Back Squat - 5 reps

Conditioning (5 Rounds):

  • Tire Flip - 6 flips
  • Ring Muscle Ups - 5 reps
  • Hang Power Clean 5 reps
  • Push Jerks - 5 reps
  • Double Unders - 50 reps

The Verdict

Light, breathable and has a great range of motion. The new Polartec fabric completely flips this thing on its head. I loved V1, but Ten Thousand knocked it out the park with V2. It’s the perfect layer to throw on if I want to hit some sprints outside the gym in the middle of a session or if I’m coaching on a cold morning.

“The fabric has the breathability to go nuts in the gym or out on a run and not overheat."
